Hayes Diversified Technologies (HDT USA) President Fred Hayes has been busy setting land-speed and fuel-economy records aboard his company’s AMSOIL-lubricated diesel motorcycles. In August at the Bonneville Salt Flats, Hayes set a new world and national land-speed record of 121.212 mph aboard an HDT USA MD670TR2 turbo-diesel motorcycle. Aboard an HDT USA MD670STR Streamliner motorcycle, Hayes achieved a fuel economy mark of 144 mpg at the 2012 AMA Vintage Days Challenge, and most recently won the 2012 Vetter Vegas to Barstow Fuel Economy Challenge with a mark of 125.92 mpg. A production version of the company’s MD695FR2 motorcycle won the alternative fuel category by achieving 89.09 mpg.
